Hailing from North Wales, Ifan Davies (singer/guitarist), Ifan Ywain (guitar), Gruff Jones (synthesizers), Gerwyn Murray (bass), and Lewis Williams (drums) began the journey back in 2011 that was to offer them sizable opportunity and acclaim.

After building a buzz with their EP ‘Du a Gwyn’ (Black and White), it was off the back  of their 2015 self-titled debut that the Sŵnami journey really began, winning Welsh Language Album Of The Year; being nominated for The Welsh Music Prize; representing Radio 1 at Eurosonic festival in the Netherlands, as well as performing a session at the legendary Maida Vale studios.

With their bright shining melodies and hooks good enough to dance around your lockdown bedroom to, Sŵnami are about to embark on their next chapter, with album number two on the horizon.


YwS Gwynedd

Ywain Gwynedd, Rich Roberts, Ifan Davies ac Emyr Prys Davies are the members of Yws Gwynedd. The band was created as a vehicle to perform the Codi/\Cysgu album which was written over a period of 15 years. As they toured the length and bredth of Wales, the band’s bond developed and in 2017 the co-written album, “Anrheoli”, was released. New material will be performed for the 1st time ever in 2022 since the band took a hiatus following their last gig in 2017 at Festival No 6.



Adwaith are a post- punk band from Carmarthen. All their material has gained vast critical acclaim and extensive radio plays.

They have recorded a session in the legendary BBC studios at Maida Vale, London for Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1 / BBC Radio Cymru), BBC 6 music Session for the Marc Riley show, played Latitude Festival, Green Man Festival, played in Italy with Gruff Rhys at Suns Festival and supported Gwenno and The Joy Formidable on full UK tours.

Their new album will be out in July and we can’t wait!



In four years, Gwilym has established themselves as one of the biggest bands in the music scene in Wales with songs like ‘Catalunya’ and ‘\Neidia/’ often being played on the radio. Following the success of their debut album, ‘Sugno Gola’ (2018), and numerous awards, they are busy recording their second album. Let their summery and catchy tunes put a smile on your face and the beats get you up dancing!

Tara started performing at 5 years old. The daughter of the legendary wrestler El Bandito, she descended into the world that we call entertainment, without the opportunity to wonder exactly why performing was such an integral part of her personality. She didn’t ask herself that profound question until 2009 after the loss of her father, her hero and inspiration, which led her on a journey, symbolic and literal, to discover herself.

Performing continued to be a big part of her life, as she joined the incredible ‘Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon’ as a singer, before Tara realised that writing her own music was the way to truly understand herself.

Tara became a new artist on Recordiau Côsh Records in December 2021, working with the producer Rich James Roberts, to record three singles. Her first single, ‘Blerr’, was released on in January 2022, with a supporting music video produced by Lŵp, directed by Tara. 

Tara is one of the artists on the Horizon’s Launchpad 2022 and Tara’s singles, ‘Rhyl’ and ‘Drama Queen’ were released earlier this year. Tara plans on releasing her first album later in 2022.



Mellt are a four piece band originally from Aberystwyth, but now based in Cardiff. Their debut album ‘Mae’n Hawdd Pan Ti’n Ifanc’ won the coveted Welsh Language Album of the Year in 2018 and the band are now working on their second album.

With numerous live shows under their belt, this energetic four piece manages to captivate an audience wherever they go. With their catchy guitar riffs and a perfect blend of slacker rock and post punk sounds – Mellt’s clever and intricate lyrics take them to the next level.

Cardiff six-piece, Breichiau Hir are an act that blends cathartic intensity, enormous walls of sound and fragile melancholic moments with a sole mission to move and connect to it’s audience.

Bursting with melody, fragility and aggression, the band often jump from fierce energy to delicate parts to a full crashing waves of noise.  The band released their debut album, Hir Oes I’r Cof in 2022.

Mei Gwynedd


Mei Gwynedd is a well-known name in  Wales as a former member of Beganifs, Big Leaves, Sibrydion, The Peth and Endaf Gremlin. Mei released his second solo album in August 2021 ‘Y Gwir yn Erbyn y Byd’ packed with great rock songs, with Mei’s iconic guitar sound and his soft and passionate voice echoing through each track.

As well as performing on the Welsh stage and beyond, Mei is an experienced producer, who has worked with many familiar names here in Wales with his label JigCal.

Mei has gathered some of the scene’s most experienced musicians, Sion Llwyd, Aled Richards and Gaz Thorington to stage a band that always impresses and their legendary performances are sure to leave the crowd with a smile on their faces!

N’famady Kouyaté

N’famady Kouyaté

N’famady Kouyaté is a young energetic master musician from Guinea (Conakry), who relocated to Cardiff in 2019. A talented multi-instrumentalist who wowed audiences with his modern interpretations of traditional West African Mandingue songs and rhythms supporting Gruff Rhys on the Pang! album tour.

The music is a mash-ups of traditional Guinean songs with new Welsh lyrics, modern & traditional instrumentation, played by a ten-piece band. N’famady has a steadily growing fanbase both in the UK and West Africa. Don’t miss this one! 

Lloyd a Dom James

Music has been a big part of Lloyd and Dom’s lives. The couple met in 2017 when Dom reached out to Lloyd and offered to work together on music. They’ve been great friends since. As well as music, the Welsh language has continued to be a big part of their lives since they attended Ysgol Glantaf and Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw, where they learned the language.

Recently, with the great help of Don (Donald), producer, sound engineer and a great friend of Dom and Lloyd, they have been working to create a variety of Welsh rap songs in an effort to bring an underrepresented genre to life. The first single, ‘Who’s Calling?’ has recently been released. 



Ynys (Island) is the project of Dylan Hughes, ex-Race Horses and Radio Luxembourg. The songs of Ynys are rich collection of melancholic harmonies, over a cinematic soundtrack of 80’s sequencers, 70’s string machines, and fuzz guitars. 

From Aberystwyth, Ynys has released a series of singles to date on Libertino Records. ‘Caneuon’ , ‘Mae’n Hawdd’ and ‘Aros am Byth’ achieved critical acclaim culminating in a live session on Marc Riley’s BBC 6 music show. 

Ynys’ debut album will be released this summer on Libertino Records. 



After Elis Derby, Gethin Griffiths, Marged Gwenllian and Carwyn Williams worked on various songs and theme tunes on the internet as a means of keeping them entertained during the lockdown, Lŵp’s proposal to record a cover of any Welsh song came on for Wales Music Day. 

‘Smo Fi Ishe Mynd’, with Malan as a guest artist, was recorded for social media, and following the response, they decided to release it. They then got together in the flesh for the first time, working on an album of songs from the Sain archives, with each song having a different guest artist. The album was recorded in 5 days in the Sain Studios in May 2021, and released “Wyt Ti’n Meddwl Bod O Wedi Darfod?“ in July 2021. 


Eädyth + Asha Jane 

Fans of Solange and Jill Scott will love the warmth of Eädyth’s exhilarating vocals, while fans of Massive Attack and Bjork will enjoy the combination of broken beats with a melancholic and powerful production.

During the past year Eädyth has performed for the first time at the ‘Future Echoes’ festival in Sweden and continues to receive international recognition. 2022 will bring many exciting opportunities for Eädyth, as she travels to ‘Secret Sessions’ in Luxembourg, ‘BreakoutWest’ in Canada and the ‘Ziro Festival’ in India as well as many festivals in Wales. 


Glain Rhys

Glain Rhys is an artist from Bala. Her debut album, Atgof Prin, was released back in 2018, and Glain is working on her second album, which will be out soon. Glain is influenced by her local area of ​​North Wales, personal experiences and musicians such as Billie Eilish. Glain and the band are excited to be back at this year’s Tafwyl. 

Hana Lili

Hana Lili

Hana Lili, from Sully in the Vale of Glamorgan, is a composer and artist who writes songs from the heart.

Her light pop songs have been streamed over a million times. It has also received support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and The Guardian. Her music has recently appeared on the Love Island television program, which has been compared to artists such as The Cardigans and the Cranberries.  

Morgan Elwy

With strong melodies and catchy lyrics at its core, Morgan Elwy and the Bach O Hwne band from Dyffryn Clwyd are sure to fill your boots with positive vibes and a good time with a full set of Welsh reggea, blues and folk-rock songs. 


Y Gerddorfa Ukulele

Now with over 30 members, the Ukulele Orchestra is going from strength to strength. The orchestra was established in 2013 and meet weekly in Cardiff under the direction of Mei Gwynedd and Menter Caerdydd. They have already performed at many local gigs including Tafwyl and Cardiff Ukulele Festival.

DJ Palmerviolet

DJ Palmerviolet

Molly is a Valleys DJ and presenter. She has been dj’ing since 2018 but has recently started officially gigging. She is a resident DJ at 10 Degrees in Caerphilly, has played in many different events and joins her DJ partner Dabes sometimes on a Friday night at Club Ifor Bach for NUKE as ‘Welsh Chicks’. She is very passionate about music and the language and very excited to be part of Tafwyl this year. 

DJ Esyllt

DJ esyllt

Esyllt co-founded the Dirty Pop club night. The evening ran every Saturday night at Clwb Ifor Bach from 2008 to 2021, celebrating electronic pop music and disco dancing for mixed audiences. Esyllt has been a DJ for 18 years working across Wales and beyond. She founded the Ciwdod label in 2004 who worked with new Welsh artists and released the first works of bands such as Radio Luxembourg, Yr Ods and Threatmantics. 

DJ Gareth Potter

DJ gareth potter

Famous as a member of Clustiau Cŵn, Traddodiad Ofnus and Tŷ Gwydr, Gareth has rocked the party from behind a pair of decks since the mid 80s. His REU! nights at Clwb Ifor Bach were revolutionary and his Reu farwell evening at Pontrhydfengdiaig was legendary.

Gareth was the king of the middle floor in Clwb for 15 years and his closing parties for Tafwyl are always full of fun and michief. 

Get ready for loads of old and new Welsh Bangers and some worldly beats and a bass line that will get you on the dancefloor.  

DJ Garmon

DJ garmon

Garmon is originally from Cardiff and now lives in Scotland. He started playing Acid House in the late 90s in clubs in South Wales and England before moving to the darker sounds of Dubstep and Jungle at the beginning of the millennium. This change of direction opened the doors of European clubs for a few years before he enjoyed a brief hiatus with the birth of his son Pedr. Garmon has changed nappies for Dubplates and now plays intermittently around the Edinburgh circuit with the lighter sounds of House, Disco and Bagpipes.  

DJ Mirain

DJ mirain

Mirain is a 20-year-old from Crymych in Pembrokeshire, and is a presenter on Radio Cymru 2’s Sunday morning breakfast show. She works freelance in the presenting world, and will be entering her third year at Aberystwyth University in September studying a degree in Welsh.

She’s a  self-confessed contemporary Welsh music nerd and although relatively new to the world, she enjoys DJ-ing, and having fun doing it.
