Why are you back in the castle?
- Tafwyl is returning to the castle this year.
- Tafwyl will be using infrastructure already within the castle, and will make use of both the front and back of the castle to expand the Tafwyl site.
What is the site capacity this year?
- Up to 8,000 people can be inside the Tafwyl site at one time. Staff will monitor numbers at entrance and exits.
Will I need to queue?
- Tafwyl hopes that queues won’t be necessary, but during the busiest times there may be short queues.
Where is the Tafwyl entrance?
- The daytime entrance and exit will be through Bute Park, which will close at 8:30pm. There is also an exit at the front of the castle throughout the day.
- At the end of the evening, the front and back castle entrances will open for exiting the site. Please follow staff instructions when leaving.
When does it open?
- Opening times vary each day.
- The schedule will be available before the event.
Do I need a ticket?
- Tafwyl weekend is a free, non-ticketed festival.
- Tickets are available for our new Golden Ticket area, and Llais sessions may need be booked in advance.
Can I bring my dog?
- Only assistance dogs are allowed on the Tafwyl site.
- No other dogs or pets are permitted.
Can I bring a chair?
No, you cannot bring:
- Chairs
- Folding seats
- Portable seating
- Inflatables
Is there somewhere to sit?
- Yes! Seating is available around the Tafwyl site.
- You may sit on a small picnic blanket in suitable areas.
Can I bring drinks?
- You may bring a sealed water bottle or an empty bottle to refill.
- All other drinks must be purchased on-site.
What about food?
- You’re welcome to bring your own food but there will be plenty of excellent Wales based food traders onsite.
- There will be food stalls with plenty of choice, including vegan and gluten-free options.
- Please do not bring glass.
What items are not allowed?
- Large bags bigger than a backpack
- Chairs
- Glass or any glass containers (perfume bottles etc)
- BBQs or gas
- Drones
- Tents, gazebos, or large umbrellas
- Bikes, scooters, or skateboards (unless they are mobility aids)
- Aerosol spray
Is there parking?
- There is no parking on-site.
- There are many car parks in Cardiff city centre within walking distance of the event.
- There is a bike-locking area outside the festival’s main entrance.
How do I get to Tafwyl?
- Tafwyl is in the centre of Cardiff, so it’s easy to reach by bus or train.
Is Tafwyl suitable for children?
- Yes! There is a dedicated children’s activity area with plenty to enjoy.
Are there toilets?
- Yes, including accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities.
Is Tafwyl accessible?
- Yes, Tafwyl aims to be an accessible festival for everyone.
- Please contact us in advance if you have specific needs.
- There is a wristband giving entry to the accessible viewing platform and a queue pass.
What if it rains?
- Tafwyl goes ahead even in the rain.
- Bring a raincoat — not a large umbrella
