CELEBRATING 70 YEARS OF WELSH EDUCATION
In September 1949 the first Welsh medium school in Cardiff opened its doors. In recognition of the huge increase and interest in Welsh medium education in the Capital, which now includes 17 primary schools and 3 secondary schools, a special Celebration Parade will take place on Saturday 21st June. Friends and pupils – old and new are warmly welcomed to join the parade.
Edward VII Avenue near City Hall
Cardiff Folk Dance Company’s annual midsummer festival. A procession of folk dancers and musicians will leave the Angel Hotel at 11.00, stopping to dance at various places in the city centre and arriving at City Hall at midday to raise the summer pole. There will be dancing around the city centre from 14:00, finishing in front of City Hall at around 16:30 to dance and lower the pole. There will be a barn dance and hot buffet in the Angel Hotel in the evening, starting at 19:00. Cost for the barn dance and hot buffet: £15.00
Saturday night is for dancing! Dirty Pop, with DJs Ian Cottrell & Esyllt Williams, bringing electronic pop and disco anthems alive! On the second floor Mr Potter and his disco will entertain with jump-jive, soul, funk and disco blues songs. Or if indie anthems is the genre for you, head on up to the third floor!
