With only 100 days to go, the line-up for Tafwyl, Cardiff’s Welsh Arts and Culture Festival has been announced today, as the event returns to Cardiff Castle after a successful mini holiday in Llandaf Fields.

Tafwyl will be celebrating Menter Caerdydd’s 20th Birthday this year! There will be a big celebration inside the castle walls!

Candelas, Bryn Fôn, Mabon, NogoodBoyo, Band Pres Llareggub, Alys Williams, Aled Rheon, Meic Stevens, Fleur de Lys and The Gentle Good are just some of the many fantastic Welsh artists performing at the event, which takes place on the 30th of June and 1st of July.

Members of Band Pres Llareggub said:

“We are so happy to be returning to Tafwyl this year! The band is always delighted to play in the Capital City and this event is very special to us! We have fond memories of our performance and time at Tafwyl 2016! It’s great to see so many big names in Wales in the line-up. Tafwyl will be a party and a half. We cannot wait!! “

Yurt T will be back on site thanks to sponsors; Cardiff & Vale College – with a fun packed musical line-up, activities and workshops for the young teens of Tafwyl. Acts confirmed include Los Blancos, Wigwam and SerolSerol. There will be performances by many bands formed in local Cardiff schools – Glantaf, Plasmawr and Fitzalan to name a few – a project funded by Arts & Business that was so successful last year, it’s a must for Tafwyl 2018.

On Sunday, Trac and Cwpwrdd Nansi will come together to curate an afternoon of folk music in the Acoustic Barn (Sponsored by Clwb Ifor Bach). The crew will be coordinating unique sessions, bringing together talented musicians for a programme of contemporary and fun performances. The main stage will be joining in with the folk inspired afternoon this year with performances from Mabon, Vri and NogoodBoyo.

As usual, the Tafwyl Fringe will be held across the city before the weekend of the event – in museums, libraries, cafes and arts centres – between the 23th of June and the 1st of July.

Last year at Llandaf Fields, Tafwyl saw a whopping 38,000 people attending the festival and the events during Fringe week making it the most successful year yet! The organizers have succeeded in creating a unique and special event for the Capital City, a proud celebration of all things Welsh. Best of all Tafwyl is a free event, making it hugely accessible to everyone; Welsh speakers or total newbies to the language and culture. Come and join us this year to help Menter Caerdydd celebrate their 20th Birthday Party.
