Two cousins, Mali Sion and Leusa Rhys from the Conwy Valley have formed a new genre duo. When asked what kind of music they produced, Serol Serol’s answer was ‘Space Pop’. This genre is currently rare in Welsh music, so it’s great to see two girls creatively filling the gap in the market. The youth yurt on site this year is the place to be!
Y Sybs are a new band who have recently been making a name for themselves with their unique psychedelic indie-punk sound, catchy songs and their noisy and energetic live shows. The Cardiff four piece have been gigging nonstop since their formation a year ago, playing with the likes of Breichiau Hir, Cpt Smith, Los Blancos and Omaloma, they are aslo currently competing in this year’s battle of the bands.
Wigwam formed in January last year. Their first gig was held in Clwb Ifor Bach as part of a sixth form social night. Before long they started writing and performing their own material infused with heavy rock n roll, as well as some lighter songs, occasionally with a funky feel to them. They have played across Wales since forming, gigging with some of the country’s biggest bands, and they plan to release material over the summer. The band members are: Gareth- lead vocals; Elis- guitar; Griff- bass guitar; Rhys- guitar; and Dan- drums.
